Hunting With Your ATV
Hunting is a sport that's popular throughout the world, and most hunters consider their daily routine as simply a way to pass the time between each wilderness adventure. Hunting and outdoor activities are best enjoyed astride your favorite ATV. Here are a few tips to ensure a great ATV hunting trip. Read on to learn more.
Safety First
Hunting accidents continue to be far too common. Inexperienced hunters often get bored and impatient as they stare into the woods. As the hours keep passing, they get increasingly trigger-happy at the slightest movements. A signal mirror will allow you to silently notify other hunters of your presence, and you can use FRS (Family Radio Service) radios to stay in touch with other members of your party miles away. Mark your vehicles with your driver’s license number and park them out of sight. Criminals won’t vandalize or steal a vehicle if they don’t see it.
Advantages of Hunting with Your ATV
Your ATV will take you places where your truck can’t go, and you can keep all your gear with you as you stalk your prey through the woods. If you need to cross an overgrown trail, a stream, or a rockpile, your ATV will get you right into position without breaking a sweat. And once you’ve harvested that trophy buck, it can ride right back with you into camp at the end of the day.
Know the Laws
Every area has different laws and regulations, and ignorance of the law isn't permission to break the law. You're typically prohibited from shooting from any motor vehicle, even while parked. You're also not allowed to ride off the established trail to hunt or retrieve the game. You’ll want to learn the local laws so you know which regulations are applicable when you are hunting with your ATV.
